It’s Monday! Mama’s Music Mantra will help you see why you should get your groove on.   Today’s song pick: Canned Heat by Jamiroquai. Now turn up those speakers, click play, and read on!

Mantra: “Dance, yeah!
Nothing left for me to do but dance! Gonna dance my blues away tonight!”

You know those days you’d rather do anything but the dishes? Or you wake up on the wrong side of the bed and would LOVE to crawl right back in? Or, maybe you’re not the happiest chick on the block this morning?

Dance. Sounds cheesy, but I promise it works. Dancing releases those happy chemicals. Cleaning up a messy house is not my idea of a good time. But with a 90’s dance mix to help, it becomes a tad bit more exciting.  If you’re stressed, put on some Gipsy Kings and tell me you’re not in a better mood after shaking that thang to the Gipsy King Megamix.  Sometimes I forget that my mood is my choice and that I can do something to about it.  I was never one of those who would listen to sappy love songs after a break-up. Or heavy metal when I’m mad. Happy tunes, happy moves, happy Mama. But that’s my personal preference. You could bust out the contemporary dance moves and “express your emotions”. No one’s judging you…well, no one’s watching you. They might judge if they watch you attempt a few tilted battements (I totally googled that) and rond de jambes (isn’t that French for “ham”?).

If I haven’t convinced you yet, here are some more reasons why dancing helps make you a happier mom:

Dance:

  • is a workout, without you knowing it!
  • boosts creativity
  • boosts your confidence
  • brings sexy back (ooo, now you’re on board huh?)

OK I see some of you disagreeing with my last two bullet points. Although I’m known to clear the dance floor with my signature matrix move… 😉

I realize some of you may not be comfortable with your moves. If dancing makes you feel anything but sexy, just remember: dance is an art, not a science. There’s no right or wrong way to dance. Everyone can dance!

So, shimmy shake n’ gyrate. Go on.

Do you have a signature dance move? Please share. I’d love to add to my collection.

I SO agree with you! I am a dancer at heart and know that music can change your mood. I love this song and yes, I’m jammin’ to it!

The frog princess and I dance all the time. I’m calling her over right now to see if she’ll dance with me to this song! Thanks!

I love to dance when I have things I really don’t want to do. It helps me get in a better mood.
