When Mica Angela Hendricks, from busymockingbird.com, posted about her wonderfully whimsical collaborations with her 4-year old daughter, I was so inspired. I couldn’t wait to team up with my daughter on an art project!
Earlier this week, it was my brother’s and my mother’s birthday — the perfect excuse for an art collabo with Tiana. I couldn’t wait to see what kind of magic we would come up with.

You know that moment when your heart explodes because your kid eagerly gives you her gift, her work of heart — your portrait, in scribbles and stick limbs? That moment is the inspiration behind my manifesto for handmade giving, shared in my latest guest post on ethicalDeal.com.
Handmade gifts trump mall-finds any day. But as romantic as it sounds, the idea of making gifts scares away busy moms. You might be turned off by the thought of complicated projects and a time-consuming process.
The Holidays are centered around gift-giving. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Gifts are an effective way to nurture relationships.

How ridiculously powerful is that feeling you get when your vision takes shape? When solutions present themselves. When you meet the right people, at just the right time. When opportunities are abound, every where you turn.
When you manifest your desires, you feel like a dancer whose every move is made with the purpose of making her heart smile.

I wrote a poem so that you and I can celebrate this ecstatic state.
Or, we can use it as a reminder for those days when we struggle to believe in possibilities.
Do you consider yourself to be the creative type?
Trick question.
There is no such thing. We all have a creative genius in us. However, some use their creativity and others don’t. There is nothing better in life than being creative, so why are there so many who label themselves as “not the creative type”?
There may be a few reasons, but in this post, I throw the blame on parenting.
