Giving Thanks to the 34 Things
It’s a long weekend here in Canada. A Thanksgiving long weekend. So this Mama’s Music Mantra is my “thank you” theme song: Kind and Generous by Natalie Merchant. Now turn up those speakers, click play, and read on!
Mantra: “I want to thank you
For so many gifts
You gave with love and tenderness
I want to thank you”.
This holiday got me thinking of all the things I’m thankful for. A few things came to mind…well 34 things. Why 34? Because I’d like to be sincere, and aiming for a nice number like 50 or 100 removes the sincerity. So I added to the list till there was a pause…otherwise the list would never end.
This list is dedicated to My Lucky Stars (a.k.a God, the Universe, the Something that is bigger than any concept we can construct). And now, in no particular order…
- Tiana – I can list a million things I am thankful for under this one topic. So thankful for this beautiful little personality.
- Desmond – the most hardworking husband there is.
- Grandparents – it was always a dream for my child to have met her Great Grandparents. It came true.
- My parents- they do anything and everything for me.
- Siblings- my best friends in the whole world.
- Cecily – My sister-in-law. She is so lovable damnit! And I’ve heard horror stories about sister-in-laws.
- Friends – whether we’ve shared a bond for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
- Vancity – I feel like a tourist in this city most days. It’s that beautiful.
- Creativity – one of my favourite quotes: “life is not about finding yourself, its about creating yourself.”
- Google – who needs school anymore?
- Biceps – How else would I survive carrying around 27 lbs all day?
- Community – Moms unite! 🙂
- Internet – everybody is somebody on the internet.
- Breath – it holds my hand through tough times.
- Awareness- not everybody is aware of awareness you know.
- My senses – I’m lucky to have all 5…although I’ve heard there are many more.
- Fear – my compass
- Freedom – I’ve finally realized that I’m the only one who sets the limits around here.
- 4 seasons – cherry blossoms, beach days, crunchy leaves, snowflakes
- Wall decals – pretty. cheap.
- Babysitters – my A-team allows me to: go to the movies, party, clean my bathroom, make tutus.
- This moment- now is all there is.
- Miracles – make my days rather magical.
- Evernote – Remember Everything.
- Hand-me-downs – Krystal Ripolo, Aileen Proust, and Nora Jimenez – you generous ladies saved me tons of money!
- Facebook – without it, we probably wouldn’t have had our super awesome high school reunion!
- Music – for lending its rhythm to cleaning, exercising, socializing.
- Laughter – I enjoy laughing. My husband laughs out REALLY loud. Tiana is a little comedian. There’s a lot of laughter in this house.
- Motherhood – the best thing that ever happened to me.
- Role models – showing us how it’s done.
- Journeys – the process of getting from point A to point B, literally and metaphorically.
- Sleep – pretty sure this one’s one every mom’s list.
- Silence – sitting in silence is peace and everyone needs peace…especially mamas.
- You – thanks for reading my blog and supporting Tutu Mama. xo
