For The Worrier In You
Today’s Mama’s Music Mantra comes from three wise little birds who tweet that the act of worrying doesn’t serve us any good. The song pick: Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae. Now turn up those speakers, click play, and read on!
Mantra: “Three little birds sat on my window and they told me I don’t need to worry”.
These birds are in the know. These are the same three little birds that showed up at Bob Marley’s doorstep … with the same message, of course. They flew from Bob in Jamaica to Corinne in England and probably made a few stops in between. Now I tweet it to the moms.
We are constantly making life-changing decisions for our little ones. And this, can weigh heavy on our hearts. But, we should really give ourselves a break. As much as we have a huge hand in how our children turn out, so does the rest of universe, among other factors. So, if you think that you alone can chart out this course, you’re wrong. And thank god for that. Because that would be too much for one person to deal with. THAT would be reason to worry.
A few reasons why you should let go of all your worries:
1) The act of worrying ages your body in a not-so-graceful manner. No lie.
2) The Law of Attraction works for both positive and negative thoughts: what you focus on is what you attract into your life.
3) Worrying causes stress and we need to eliminate all petri dishes that grow those stress cells.
4) Worrying is completely unproductive.
5) Worrying is a major energy-drain.
So if you feel the inner ends of your eyebrows coming together at a point, shift your attention to the following:
1) What’s the worse case scenario?
2) Will you be worrying about this a year from now? 10 years from now?
3) Are there perhaps greater problems in the world that make your problems disappear? (ie. world hunger) .
4) Count your blessings. (Guaranteed mood-changer).
5) Breathe a sigh of relief. Breath relaxes the body and oxygen rejuvenates the brain. Just what you need to stop you in your tracks.
Are you a worry-wart? What helps you snap out of it?
