Welcome to Mama’s Music Mantra Mondays. If you know me, you know how much I love music, dancing, singing…n’ all that jazz.  Starting today, I’ll be sharing a song from my playlist with you every Monday, taking a few lines from the song and, with my own interpretation (not always how the songwriter intended), turning it into a “mantra” for all my mamas out there. No need to chant it, the song will get stuck in your head anyway. 😉 So turn up the speakers, click play, and read on!

Mantra: “Can we all slow down
and enjoy right now.
Guaranteed we’ll be feeling alright”.

Sometimes I find myself forgetting to breathe. Being a mother keeps me on my toes, my hands, my knees and at times, my head. I’m constantly moving from one activity to the next, ’round the clock. Its not a good sign when you’re slurring your words at the end of the day.

And then there’s Tiana, who spends her days happily reading her books upside down.

Or banging on the djembe.

Although we’ve got dishes piling up and bills to be paid, we have access to that baby bliss too. All we have to do is remember that where we are, is where it’s at. Whether stuck in traffic or in a long line-up at the bank, be there and enjoy it.

Tiana makes the most of taking transit by initiating a game of peek-a-boo with the other passengers. She gets a great kick out of getting the typical stone-cold commuter to relax and have a good time. Most of us adults are too busy to enjoy the bus ride. We’re either on our cell phones, reading about Hollywood home-wreckers, or trying really hard not to make eye contact. We could learn a thing or two from the kids.

So dance a little, drum a little and breathe all the time. Enjoy right now. Make it a great week!
